This month, we were thrilled to take all our UK employees on holiday to Palma de Mallorca, Spain, as a thank you for all their effort and resilience throughout the pandemic and to celebrate a ground-breaking 2021-22 and our 15th birthday! Read about everything our team got up in the Palma sunshine below.

We’re delighted to offer a number of wellbeing perks for our employees, but perhaps the ultimate wellness boost is being able to take our team out of the office (and very far from St. Albans) for a few days. So, we booked out the easyJet plane for forty-five, headed to Spain, and prayed the forecast for thunderstorms would change.

We’ve previously taken UR team members on incentive trips to locations including Las Vegas, Miami, Monaco, Barbados, South of France, and more, but this is the first time all employees from all departments regardless of job title (including HR and operations-based roles) joined regardless of targets.

“2020 was undeniably tough on the industry and our employees. The collective reaction we witnessed across the whole company was outstanding. We’ve bounced back to be in an incredible position to expand even more as an organisation and I couldn’t be prouder of every single member of the team,” said Chris Jackson, Founding Director.

“This trip was to say a huge thank you to everyone for their exceptional performance and give them well-earned relaxation time in a beautiful setting,” he added.

Everyone who chose to come on the holiday enjoyed 3 days in Mallorca, staying at a four-star hotel, with activities including a Catamaran cruise and water sports activities, a paella cooking competition, dinner at Palma’s renowned Yacht Club, as well as some free time to spend how they like.

“Being a mum of 2 now, it’s difficult to get time to myself or with friends but this trip was just that. It was like being away with friends, having a laugh, and letting your hair down. The highlight was definitely the Catamaran trip!”

“Palma was such a memorable trip if not one of the best Understanding Recruitment has done (in my 6+ years)! Being a mum of 2 now, it’s difficult to get time to myself or with friends but this trip was just that. It was like being away with friends, having a laugh, and letting your hair down. The highlight was definitely the Catamaran trip, with everyone enjoying themselves and getting to relax,” said Alexandra Martuccio, Principal Account Manager in our Contracts team.

Ross Britton, Researcher, added: “The holiday was my first with the company and was great from start to finish. My personal highlight was the boat trip, which even featured a dance-off! It was so good to see everyone having fun together outside of work.”

Dale Swords, Founding Director, summarised: “We take our responsibility as their employer incredibly seriously and alongside their loyalty and effort, we’re always looking to support and improve their welfare and mental health. Ultimately, we want them to be as happy as they can be within their role and in life.”

Our trip to Palma was one of many, with incentive trips including our Road to Olympia office swap for graduate and trainee starters that sees some of the UK team head to Boston, Massachusetts (and visa versa), as well as half-year and full-year trips to surprise locations across the globe.

Sound good? We’re looking for ambitious talent to join us across all levels!
